Engaging learning environment
At the heart of our curriculum
As an academy, and across the trust, we appreciate the importance of investing in our campuses to ensure that they are engaging environments for learning, which are safe and nurturing for all our pupils and staff.
Here at Lantern Primary and Nursery, we have a vast range of facilities to support the learning for all our pupils. There is a nursery provision within our early years department, six classrooms with five mixed age classes, intervention spaces to support individual or groups of children’s bespoke needs, extensive grounds enabling the children to take their learning outdoors and a large hall, which is separate to the dining area, and is used for music lessons, PE, assemblies and wider educational experiences.
Our campus is currently made up of:
- Six large and spacious classrooms
- Four intervention spaces
- Two small library areas
- A hall
- A dining area
- Two large playgrounds
- A bungalow, which is separate from the main building – which is used for community events
We know that our pupils learn best when their environment reduces their cognitive load. At Lantern Primary and Nursery, the classrooms, corridors and outside spaces that are used for learning are calm and focussed on learning. We provide the necessary resources so that our children are successful and make good progress in all areas of their learning.
Our outdoor spaces are used for PE lessons, playtimes, Forest School, Bikeability and a range of curriculum subjects. They are large spaces where pupils can feel safe and have the space to express themselves, build relationships and practise skills.
